Favorite and least favorite Bangel kiss

I don't like it.

*points to thread title*

But there's a difference between saying you just don't like it and 'MY EYES!' - I'm just asking out of curiosity.

I wish Angel had worn more white undershirts in AtS. I miss the white shirt blazer look.
But the white shirt was a symbolic marker of his own innocence, which was shattered by the loss of his soul. He couldn't possibly wear it after that.

Always this one.

Least Favorite:

It's a tie between the Chosen kiss, simply because it's not up to the usual standards (a bit lame, and awkward) and the kiss in Halloween, because no one ever remembers it.

Lol I'm trying to remember it right now

Chosen needed to be a two parter to do it justice. The s2 & 3 finales were two parters and the s4 finale had a double ending.
@crazysoulless re non-Buffy women being thrown at him. They can throw them at him all they want, Buffy will always be his number 1. 😉

I would've been fine if he rejected them every single time and wasn't even really that tempted because in his mind he's still taken. He could've been like one of those widowers who acts married and doesn't want to dishonor the memory of his wife. DB did say "Angel's heart is with Buffy" and Angel said "Buffy is a part of me, and that's never going to change."

But it's not like they were apart because she died - he left her in the first place! I think it was important for him to learn that it's ok to be attracted to someone else and that it doesn't necessarily mean he would lose his soul. Learning to let go of that fear (at least a little) and just live his life a bit helps him grow and become a more rounded person - which would actually help him if they ever decided to give it another shot.

Anywhos, my favourite smoochies are all the ones of unrestrained passion. So #1 would be those in Surprise because they're both wrapped up in blissful ignorance, though the one on the bed at the end of the episode comes with a tinge of angst because I know what's going to happen. All the Bad Eggs ones are hot. Next would be IWRY - the kiss in the sunlight and the kitchen make-out where they're up against the fridge then on the table. Love the dream sequence in Amends too: erotic yet tastefully done (though I'd love to see the rushes from that day's filming!) and I too love the shot of his hands on her back - and also when they roll over and his body completely blankets hers. The size difference between them is great. Dunno why but it works.

End of Days/Chosen is probably least favourite - they're both quite stiff when compared to their other meetings. Maybe it's the apocalypse-tension.

@EarthLogic But he left her while they were still in love, still in lust, and still wanting to be together. And he made it out to be this noble thing, sacrificing his happiness. He had over a century of sexual trysts while Buffy (by Prom) had only that one time.

It's messed up if he dumps her so she has the chance to experience the things she can't with him (like sex) and then he turns around and does those things with other women, with the excuse he doesn't love them as much as he does Buffy. It's like, "Buffy is the one I want to marry so I can't make love to her but I don't want to marry these other women so I'm going to **** their brains out."

It's like Buffy found her dream house and put in sweat and tears to renovate it but then after one night living there she gets kicked out and the place is rented out to other women and she has to make due in apartments and lesser houses.

Well that's why I don't like Angel/Cordelia and do kind of like Angel/Nina. Cangel was this horribly forced attempt to create some kind of Buffyesque epic love between them but it falls flat because it makes no sense that Angel would dive into a serious relationship with her when all the obstacles are the same as they were with Buffy. Angel/Nina however is nice because a) he didn't initially pursue it, Wesley just gave him a nudge to say 'maybe just give this a try' and b)it's not really about a lasting relationship; it's just about him doing something normal for a change and learning to just live in the world: going on brunch dates, having non-perfect happiness sex - i.e. realising he doesn't have to be this social/sexual hermit all the time.

I have a habit of replaying most Buffy/Angel kiss scenes over and over and just sighing contentedly whenever I watch the show (this is a big part of why I was so baffled to discover that a lot of people don't like "Bad Eggs"), but my favorite is the vampface kiss. Runner up is probably when Xander spots them in "Revelations."

Least favorite is "I Only Have Eyes for You," because of that string of spit between their lips. Maybe it's cheating to pick that one because he's Angelus and they're both possessed, but it makes me shudder every time.

I understand that, but I also kind of love that one because it's not 'Hollywood/TV-clean'. It makes it feel like the actors really went for it, not caring how they came across on camera.

Oh, I really love that DB and SMG really went for it in the real, non-Hollywood way. The kisses that make that obvious are all amongst my favorites for that reason. That factor makes them hotter to me, because it goes a little further than merely being script-only chemistry.

And this is coming from an actress (SMG) who told another co-star (JM) to not kiss her the real way! You can see DB using his tongue a few times. SMG was making it very clear in the Reddit AMA that DB was one of the few costars she worked with that she actually liked kissing (and was good at it). Eliza is the other one who seemed to have the same idea as DB about going for the real deal. She subsequently got called out by Joss for why she was sticking her tongue down DB's throat when she jabbed herself on a fang and DB was telling her to shut up so they could keep going. LMAO.

I have however read an interview where one/both of them say that they agreed not to use tongue because they were both in relationships at the time... was that then just a little white lie to keep the tabloids under control?

I can't believe I've reached the point where I'm actually discussing actors' tongue-usage!🙄

That was right after S1. Their S2 kisses sucked compared to the ones in 'Angel'. I think that was mainly because of DB's first wife who was the insane type.

Sorry, doesn't work. The tongue is also in the end of Surprise. It didn't stop. Ditto the spit trail showing it wasn't just a peck there either.

NOT only season 1. Suffice to say, the fact that they were getting a bit close was getting both tabloid and wife attention. But I really was just pointing out that some of the kissing scenes come across on screen as a bit more than Hollywood (you see it in old movies all the time where the actors are barely even kissing on the lips, but rather above/below). Season 2 is included in that, for sure. It was most certainly not only 1x07.

SMG also fibbed to the tabloids about not dating Freddie when she obviously was.
