How Was Your Day?

Was planning to do a supply run today, but my vision is double again and I don't like driving like that. Luckily its a cooler day so there is no rush on dogs walkies this morning. Except to avoid people lol.

I am feeling a bit homesick this week. I just wana go out for a walk where I DON'T have to interact with everyone I see. Its hard in such a small town, everyone is a neighbour, so ignoring them on walks is very rude. A smile and a wave or a nod and hi is fine, but I am fracking exhausted from going out for a walk and some one expecting me to stand around and chat. I hate that. If you want a chat, come knock on my door and we'll sit and have a cuppa tea, but hounding me or chasing me on walkies when I have to ration my strength to stand is really frustrating me. It'd be nice to be a unknown face in a crowd.

My dogs pick up on my mood about it too and its not fair when people yell at my dog for also being upset about it, shes really just picking up on what I am feeling and I am not going to punish her for that! I can't understand why other people think they can do that. I would bark in your face too old man if there wasnt such a threat of being locked up for it!

Yeah a bit over life this week. Plus i got another job rejection on new years day. What a way to start!
 
We had a 4.1 earthquake this morning, but I'm sure it was NOTHING compared to the 7.5 that happened in Japan! Holy crap! 😱

The plaza website says its open until 9pm tomorrow night. Im not sure if I should believe it... I need to go on a supply run and thinking it might be quieter at night, but if the listed hours are a lie, then its a waste of petrol. Always a bit scary to drive at night now too but if I can slip behind a truck, maybe I can avoid the roos.
 
Ok I'm glad I went during the day. Nearly died anyway! A ute was over taking a caravan on the two lane highway (one lane each way). I thought maybe he didnt see me coming so I flashed my lights and slammed on the brakes. He flashed his lights and sped up. I was run off the road. Luckily there was a hard shoulder so I didnt crash, but the ute missed me by about half a metre, head on in my lane. If I hadnt been off the road and the caravan hadnt braked, there would have been at least a 3 car pile up!

The drivers everywhere where terrible today. Saw some dodgy stuff in the city. Just as I got home, I saw on twitter that there was a big crash at the highway turn off. I am glad I missed that, but not surprised with some of the crap driving I witnessed today!
 
If you live in the Northern hemisphere, today is the day of latest sunrise. December 9th was the day of earliest sunset last year and because this is a leap year, December 8th will be the earliest sunset this year and January 2nd will be the date of latest sunrise next year. The orbit of the earth around the sun is not circular and this is the cause of most of this.
 
Had a bad headache since yesterday that Panadol is not helping. My dogs have been so concerned and cute. Lilah is laying on my arm and Harmony on my legs. They are being such good and well behaved snuggle buddies.

Im happy with how much house and garden work I got done despite it. There is so much to upkeep in this place, a single day off puts me too far behind, so Im glad I got the basics done. Next place is defo gona be a little apartment above a supermarket fingers crossed haha
 
Some days, I love my life.

Last night's bachata dance was pretty good, but one thing that happened was a first: I had just finished dancing with one girl and was headed off the dance floor when a girl I had never met before dragged me back onto the floor. She was tall, slim and good-looking with a black dress and a gold necklace with a large solid patterned section on the front. This was the first time any girl had grabbed me and hauled me onto the dance floor. She said her name was Olga. I had been told before that once you look like you know what you are doing, the women will approach you, but I thought I would have to become a lot more skilled than I currently am. But maybe I already am at that point.

This girl would have been around my daughter's age.
 
My back has been killing me lately! Was really bad today.

My cat is getting out more and eating more, which is excellent. He’s a very nervous and shy kitty, but he’s doing better each day in his new home. Other than that, just a good day!

My dogs got into my yarn so I have been untangling that all morning. I just left it on the couch while I went to the loo, and I came back to two puppies entangled and tugging at a bright pink ball of yarn, spread from the couch, through the lounge room and into the kitchen.

The poodle is currently obsessed with finding feathers when we are on walkies. I let her hold them, but take them off her if she chews... Shes figured this out but then keeps on collecting more and more feathers until her gob is full of them! Here I was thinking she was a grown up now 🙄

I am also waiting for that.

Though my not-puppy-still-a-puppy (who didn't used to be all that interested in food) has gotten a very irritating interest in food. I would almost say obsession with food. Which means that he is constantly trying to steal food, not just from me but from strangers! It is quite embarrassing and a kind of puppy antic I thought we'd be over with now that he's almost 3!

Oh dear cheeky doggo!
I dont cope with the heat of summer lol. I am a migraine mess today. I keep starting indoor projects to do and then get distracted and then get sick and have to sit down, and then get up and do it all over again! Like a frenzied panic and crash cycle all day.

So far I am halfway through a dozen jobs. No idea why they all needed doing today! Its really a day I should be hiding in the dark under the air con.
 
Strange, but in a good way. Went to the dentist to get a tooth pulled out. They put the sedation stuff in and then waited two minutes. Then the dentist said that she was going to 'rock' the tooth to see if it was loose - half of it was already gone - and then she rocked it back and forth maybe five times, told me it was out, checked to see that she would not need to sew and then sent me home. I have never been in and out so quickly before, jfc! Of course, the worst part is yet to come, now that the sedation is wearing off things are starting to hurt. And I still have another half hour until I can eat or drink anything.

Haven't gone since October 2022. Need to learn my skills again.
 
I decided to dye my hair (I was in desperate need) and I think I mistook a purple shampoo for purple hair dye, so now half of my hair is pink and the other...has less yellow in it, now 😀

Thank god I have some blue and green dye I can mix up and try again in a few days. It said dye on the packet!!!

I got a gift card for a mall near me for Christmas/my birthday and went today to get some stuff I've been needing for a while. So even though it was a long day, I'm home now and so glad that I went; I got a new (cordless!) vacuum, a sports (smoothie!) blender, a sports watch (wanted one for years), four gorgeous Moscow Mule cups (also wanted them for years), and some random shite I needed from Ikea, where I also have a gift card. That, combined with January sales, and I could actually afford stuff despite being so damn poor 😀

New stuff is so exciting!
Went dancing at Lago's last night. This is a little Italian cafe with a dance floor and a DJ who plays all kinds of music - bachata plus Argentinian tango, cha-cha, salsa and quite a lot of other styles. Once again, a woman dragged me onto the dance floor. Before I got on the Latin dance circuit last September, I wondered if I would ever meet any women again in my life now that I am a widower. Now I wonder how I am going to keep all the names straight. Last night, I met Margarita and Rumiya (a Colombian girl) and I have some choices that did not show up last night. Nice problem to have.
 
Yay! No toyfair this year, we got tickets to go (free) but have decided not to go. It's a relief really, as although work pays for the train and I get lunch refunded, its a long day and have to pay for everything else. So it's a cost I could do without at the end of the month.
 
Town is looking fantastic. I dont think its ever looked this nice in its entire history. That new lady on the shire team has really made a huge difference. She works her butt off. So much better than old mate who just stood around smoking all day. But even with all the shire resources, they are struggling to keep the lawns alive. It makes me feel much better about mine!

Harmony was so happy with all the fresh new wood chips on the playground. She was rolling around in them, chomping like she was in a pile of leaves. It is so cute. That playground is really very good, and sorta makes me want to lose weight so I can play on it! Gladiators is a good influence 😉

They've put new dog poo bags at the information bay, which is a great idea cos so many tourists stop their with their dogs but leave the poop behind. Its gross and its not just the tourists. Some of the dog owners here are revoltingly lazy. There are free poop bags and bins at the park yet they still leave their dogs monster dumps everywhere. I would hate to see their own yards! Does my head in, because it stinks in the hot weather and is just a breeding ground for disease. I live in shock that they can just leave poop everywhere, but then again, these are the same people who leave used tampons and baby nappies all over the place. Pretty much the only reason I would be in favour of CCTV, fine the grubs!
