Mental health

This sounds like my state of mind when I retired. (Well, I got retired - the head of HR for the company called me in and said, "You don't work here anymore." and no one wants to hire an older engineer.) I had a lot of projects to do - in my collection of antique radios, I had a number that I had never even switched on yet as well as some to repair. Most of them are still in that state and some that were working no longer are. I am not bored because I can always pick up a project and start working on it. Or I can watch TV until the urge to do something goes away.

Well I've baked a cake, only a simple packet mix sponge, but still, I've done something today. I should do it more really, the packet mix was a real cheap one, I get the eggs free and it's just a bit of water added and I get cake. I'll make up some butter icing once it's cooled, then it'll be a cuppa tea and slice of cake for lunch.

I feel like I should be doing so much more with all this free time
I am of a split mind. Half of me is like "I wish I had time off!" and the other half is "I'm glad I still working exactly as it was"
It's just I haven't had more than three days off in a row in years and the idea of having a 'vacation' sounds lovely. But...

The less you do the less you want to do. A couple of days have definitely just passed me by. Setting a relatively early alarm and getting a bit of exercise helps me be a bit more alert for the day.

I feel the same. Parts of me really wish we had a complete lockdown. Really could need some time off.

At the same time I’m really happy that I’m not much affected by the whole thing and can work as usual.
Only problem is traveling. Almost all flights are cancelled. Even domestic.
Much more driving now. But I hate flying anyway so I don’t mind it much except that it takes more time.

Only problem is ....
I have to wait longer for Amazon deliveries and get tired of the grocery being out of stock on things. But yeah, life is still pretty damn normal. The biggest difference I think is the no more Saturday night poker games but other than that every seems pretty much normal.

Oh, and the running joke that everyone gets to laugh at me for: it took a pandemic for me not to get a new car every two years. And seriously, I am jonesin to get a new car, lemme tell ya!

I still like your old car. Feels like you got it two months ago
If anyone misses live music head over to Random Hand on Facebook this evening. Live support act at 20:15 BST and then a special pre recorded matinee set from Random Hand in Bristol last year.

I'm stable for now 🙂
Since the restrictions started, I've had two horrible headaches accompanied by nausea and light sensitivity to the point where I can't really do anything other than sleep it off and still feel like shit the next morning (usually happens in the evenings), last time I had one of these before the lockdown was back in November and I'm afraid that it's just going to get worse...and that's also affecting my mental health.

If it weren't for the pandemic I would have already gone to the doctor to see what's going on...
I haven't had these horrible terrible no good very bad headaches for a over a month now which is nice 🙂

Sadly, I know that I will have another one sooner or later regardless of the pandemic...it's not fun🙁

I should go to the doctor someday, but I have been avoiding that as I'm afraid that my doctor won't believe me and dismiss it as nothing...

Sound like migraines.
Went to see my GP today. She described me as being a "ball of stress and anxiety" and said that I have reactive depression. She's recommended that I drop down to two days of work for the next four weeks, to see if that alleviates my symptoms. Feeling a bit better about that, just hoping my bosses don't kick up too much of a fuss about it.

Hope you're feeling better soon x

That sounds bad, hope your bosses don’t give you a hard time and that it gets better soon

ball of stress & anxiety - believe that's in my job description ;)
I made some scones but realised I had nothing to cut them with so they're wonky scones

Use a long handled axe, and ultimately you'll be glad to know you will still have wonky scones, though maybe each'll be a bit smaller.

I'm off until Thursday, and just the THOUGHT of returning makes me twitchy.

Technically that is a brilliant realization though somewhat not possible. To drag yourself you need to be it front of yourself so yeah, well done!
One thing I had forgotten about having depression is how freakin' tired it makes one. I am exhausted almost all the time, sleeping way more than usual and often just go home from work and crawl straight into bed and just lie there.

This is my first week of doing only two days, so fingers crossed that it helps my mental state improve. My brain has been pure mush these past few weeks. Today I forgot how to spell photographer 🙄

@RachM,
hopefully all is well with you and that exhausted feeling is due to a change in diet.

It probably is a bit to do with diet, 'cause I pretty much lost my appetite and have barely eaten anything the last week or so. Thank you for your kind words.
