Anyway it has probably no chance of happening, but this new Buffy movie sounds kinda lame to me. If you're gonna do a movie about a girl fightning vampires, and you don't plan to bring SMG or Joss, or any of the cast back... why call it Buffy? Just start something NEW god! They are just gonna use the name to get peoples to see a(probably) terrible movie.
In that same vein, people who loved the original movie might have been saying 'if you're going to do a tv series about a girl fighting vampires, and you don't plan to bring in Swanson etc, why call it Buffy?' If people had demanded that they do something NEW after the movie BtVS might not have been what it is we know today.
I've grown kind of indifferent to the whole thing now. I was a bit like 'huh?' at first but I've moved past that. There is a possibility of it turning people off from show if it's not that great but at the same time I think that's an underestimation of people in general. If someone wants to watch Buffy then they're going to watch it, there's nothing to suggest otherwise really.
As for hoping that it's not good? Well that's a sure fire way to bring in the possibility of it 'ruining' the show.
And the comments being made towards Fran Kuzui anger me beyond belief. Seriously, it just makes the fandom look so disrespectful and as if we think we have some kind of possession over it. Sure the Kuzuis might be doing something people don't like but they're people too and they don't deserve to have abuse hurled at them.

I was going to mention your first popint earlier, but I figured I'd stump too many people with the logic. Nice post.
