I thought the lead actress was good too its main problem was that it just followed a pretty familar horror route and just didn't feel like anything new storyline wise. It just lacked that element of surprise and I didn't think it was scary enough either.

Probably. I've loathed him in everything else I've seen him in. He was the worst thing in G.I Joe movie (let that sink in for a sec) because he was entirely wooden- he was basically a dialogue-spouting prop.
The only other thing I enjoyed him in was 'Haywire' where Gina Carino was punching him in the face. That was okay. 🙂

The Net (1995) 7/10
The high rating is partly because of my bias for Sandra Bullock and also because it was on Sunday afternoon😉 But anyway its a pretty good watch. The plot actually makes more sense today than it did 20 years which does make it a better film IMO. Bullock does her thing pretty well, the relationship with the Larry Miller character is actually quite sweet, Jeremy Norton as cliche English bad guy is quite good fun, the direction is pretty ropy and some of the action set pieces are clunky, but mostly a watchable trashy thriller.
King of New York (1989) 6/10
This is Christopher Walken at his slippery, sinister best, he manages to be scary without actually doing that much. The film is an interesting look at the dark brooding New York of the 80s, the crime and racial tension. It is provicive as it suggests that the lead gangland leader has more of a moral centre than those in Police force. What lets it down is the dated look, and some of the awful racial sterotypes, the Larry Fishburne character being a key example. Also some of the action scenes were overblown and felt out of place, the ending is pretty tense, and at least does offer a satisfying conclusion.
Dr Jekyll and Sister Hyde (1971) 8/10
Very enjoyable and surreal twist on the famous horror tale. It is very funny , and strange, but without falling too far over into trash cinema, the performances are knowing, but the staging and atmosphere are really sinister. Very rich, a little scary, with some unique plot twists which kept me guessing right to the end.

Arbitrage (2012) 7.5/10
A very modern and relivent thriller. Richard Gere is always effective when playing a slimy, untrustworthy figures and is pretty good here, there is strong support from the likes of Tim Roth and Susan Sarandon too. Its well paced, and has a smart plot and a nice thriller feel to it which keeps you guessing and the satire is pretty convincing if not quite as cutting edge as certain other films. Engrossing though.

The Rabid (1977) 7/10
One of David Cronenberg's early films, and it benefits from being filmed on a tight budget, in the naturalistic small town Canadian settings. It lacks some of sharp social satire of his best body horror, but still has an interesting insight on an image obsessed culture, and is is pretty scary, and unsettling in places.

Jurassic World (2015) 6/10
A promising set up in the first 30 mins, and a strong final 10 mins, but besides that it was just another by the numbers Dinosaur film, with mostly cardboard cutout characters and some weak acting. Chris Pratt was good but they made his character too serious rather playing to his comic charms. But also the original Jurassic Park set the bar so high for the quality of the creatures and the tension, and this just couldn't live up to it. Avenge IMO.

Really? I thought the beginning felt rushed and could have been a lot better, and the ending was a little exaggerated.

I liked the begining just because it set up some new ideas which had some promise but I can see why you might think that it was rushed. The ending was quite well done I thought, its just that I never believed as much in the level of threat as I did in the original film so I guess by then my expectations were lowered and I did think at least it was quite a fun sequence. Of course it was exaggerated! Its Jurassic World after all!😉

I think it was missing a character like Jeff Goldblums too. Some of the comedy didn't work for me. Still think its a fun movie though.

I don't care what anyone says about the series, I enjoyed this movie a lot! Screw the haters who say it has jumped the shark, this was full of cool nods to previous films, packed with Arny being a badass, and Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor is my new favorite thing (ok she's hot, give me a break!). And the plot is actually decent, with the time travel mostly making sense (there's always a few holes with movies containing time travel). Didn't care for the dude main character, but that's okay, the rest of the movie was cool.

I've enjoyed the movies. I haven't watched the Christian Bale one, but aside from that they've held up as far as entertainment goes.
Hit nd Runway (1999) 8-8.5/10
My friend and I get together to watch random, mostly bad or indie movies and he stumbled on this one(I'm fairly sure he found it by searching Kerr Smith, who is in it). I had never heard of it before, but I actually enjoyed it. It has a kind of charming feel to it, it's funny, and I rated it 8-8.5 because of the portrayal of gay men, especially for a 90s movie. It also shows Woody Allen inspiration and references, both direct and indirect.
It's about a gay and a straight writer teaming up for a screenplay. They both learn things from each other while working, taking parts of their experiences for the story. It's a little predictable, plot wise, but the story is interesting and it doesn't end the way you think it will, which is good.
Also, while it's an lgbt friendly movie, it's not a coming out story and it's not forced or "gay for the sake of being gay", which is what I'm used to seeing. The gay storyline is dealt with as any straight one.

I loved it. It was funny, violent, the main character had feelings and it wasn't that predictable. What more can I ask for in a movie. (maybe a main character with an understandable name? It was Eggsy, I called him Ig/Iggy the whole movie until I looked it up.)

Death Becomes Her (1992) 8/10
Love this film! Another visual delight from Robert Zemeckis with a fun and twisted black comic tone delightfully played by the three leads. Streep and Hawn have great fun sending up their images while Bruce Willis is refreshing wimpy and up tight actually making for a much more fun performance than some of the action roles which he had become tightcast in. Isabella Rossellini is also on fine campy sinister form maybe at her most effective since working with David Lynch.

Some films based on famous novels you see and you enjoy it so much than it makes you want to read the novel. This was the totally oppisite. If the novel is as self-loathing, hateful, annoying and so cruel to women as this film then I would just want to throw it out the window. The women characters are just treated so badly and rarely seem to put up any resistance and just to make matters worse the viewer gets taken another for each trip and its like we are supposed to find it cool? Also, there's not a proper story to carry you along, its well acted and directed I can't denie that, but I found it boring and cold throughout.

I did think that James Mcavoy was a bit miscast in the lead role and hammed it up a bit too much at times, the ending was a bit clunky too, but enjoyable mostly.

A Few Good Men (1992) 5/10
Very overrated count drama. Is mostly made up of grand speeches and self-rightious grandstanding. The cast are mostly either miscast (Cruise), misused (Pollack), or not quite up to the task (Moore), or sleep their way through it (Nicholson). Only Kevin Bacon gets the tone just spot on. The ending is very melodramatic.

Cult horror about a man who dresses like Santa who gets depressed because of peoples cynical views on Christmas, so who slowly unravels and goes on a killing spree😀 It does that classic horror thing of taking something sweet and magical and twisting it around into something sinister. The lead is very well cast as he has that classic Bill Murray dry look meaning that he is believable in both sides of the character. The low budget and Christmas setting all add to the creepy feel, it does run a little dry on ideas at times, but a very enjoyable and original horror.

Ten years after everyone else I decided to watch "Super Size Me", it was pretty ok. I've never really eaten at McDonalds (like a handful of times as a kid) so
while it was interesting, it didn't really shock me or anything, but to be fair that could be because it took me forever to watch this... hehe.
So hold on to your hats! Cause in five years I might just get around to watching Avatar 😉

I saw that like a year after it came out I think. I do remember every one talking about it at the time. Actually I might have watched it in a class. Sadly there are people that eat McDonalds or other fast food like every day. Not sure about every meal of every day. I mean it's basically what I expected. If you eat like shit, then you're going to get fat and have health issues. McDonalds no longer has the "super size" option anymore. I do eat at McDonalds maybe like 10 times in a year, I eat Taco Bell more, but I'm sure this movie discouraged people from eating fast food for a while. But eventually people forget and most go back to their old habits.
Don't worry about Avatar, I actually think it's over rated. Didn't really care for the story. While the visuals were great, that only goes so far towards an enjoyable movie.
50 Shades of Grey -5/10
So I finally decided to watch this (although I still have yet to see the Twilight movies). It wasn't as bad as a I thought. The story is kind of boring, Grey feels like a obsessive creeper most of the time. I feel like there could have been a nice romantic story in there some where. Also disappointed by the lack of sex scenes. I was expecting more. But I am intrigued by Christian Grey's past, so hopefully the sequels will give me answers.

This one has Charisma Carpenter, and while she's a good actress, it's kind of hard seeing here in this. All I can think is Cordy. lol. Also the guy in this is worst than Christian Grey, he feels more like a rapist or serial killer, at least Grey is just a possessive stalker. I will say that it does not feel like a 50 Shades rip off movie, very different plot, but that doesn't make it better, just slightly more realistic scenario. Perhaps if they got a better guy to play the role, Idk.
Honestly I don't recommend either one of these movies.
