Spy: 7/10

Formulaic, but very funny. Basically a vehicle for Melissa McCarthy to ad-lib her way through being a spy, but it's enjoyable and the supporting cast is good.

I thought Jason Statham was probably the funniest thing in this. The guy had a real blast sending up his 'hard man' personna- especially with all those exaggerated claims. 🙂

Yes! I normally can't stand Statham, but I really enjoyed him in this

"Nothing kills me. I'm immune to 179 different types of poison. I know because I ingested them all at once when I was deep undercover in an underground poison-ingesting crime ring."😀

Grindhouse-Death Proof 8/10, Planet Terror 9/10
Jennifer's Body 8/10

Haha thank you! Do you take issue with the others or have not seen yet?

"Heavenly Creatures" karma!
Spy-7.5/10
This was better than I thought. Melissa McCarthy was funny, not as OTT as she can be but the supporting cast was the best. Jason Statham was ridiculous and funny, Rose Byrne was great, but the British friend had me cracking up! She was the best part of the whole movie. Her comedy offset McCarthys and was more subtle but great!

Veronika Decides to Die -7/10
This one was interesting. Not my kind of movie but still good. SMG was very good in it, and I like seeing her do these different kind of roles. I sort of predicted the ending but it was still nice.

I agree about the Stath- he was friggin hilarious.
Also Miranda Hart was the best friend- she's a popular British actress. She was in a sitcom type show called 'Miranda' which is a big BBC hit. 🙂

Weirdly I kinda like the friendly/bitchy vibe between MM and the villainess of the piece- they snarked a lot but brought out some great lines in each other.
'You look like a slutty dolphin trainer!' had me helpless with laughter at one point.

It's from 2009.

Actually it's from last year.
Hitchcock/Truffaut (2015) 8/10

A poetic and rich cinematic doucment of the meeting of the two loved directors. It is full of engaging themes, dramatic atmosphere, and an impressive list of talking heads.

That Demon Within (Mo jing) (2014) 7/10

Entertaining and thrilling Hong Kong crime film, with a strong visual style, and some nice black humour. The politics of the film are also interesting, but certain moments were plodding and clitche.

The Big Short 5/10 I disliked every character in this movie, but maybe that's just me 🙂 Over rated
