The Silence of the Lambs (1991) - 8.5/10
A true classic, I really have to read the book someday. I love the way we're shown things, from Clarice's POV, which clearly stems from it being an adaption. Anyway, can't really say much more, everyone knows how great this is (and how awesome a certain knighted actor is in it) 🙂
 
Entrapment (1999)

I love this movie, one I watch at least once a year, it never fails to entertain me.
 
The Goonies - Unwatchable

Decided to give this a try as my girlfriend had never seen it and I couldn't remember if I liked it or not. She fell asleep within 15 minutes and I switched it off after 30. I just couldn't deal with the kids yelling constantly.

When Harry Met Sally - 7/10

Decent Rom Com that I'd never seen before. Funny and makes you think. Cast were all solid.

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark - 5/10
Pretty generic and bland. The cast are decent. There are one or two good jump scares. But its very forgettable.

Dark Encounter - 6/10
Solid, Spielbergian Sci-Fi mystery. Its a slow start, but decent once it got going. The ending is really touching.

Bliss - 8/10
Completely shot in 16mm. This is proper throw back, balls to the walls, cult trashy movie. It has that gritty, grimy 70's feel. I felt like I was on one long drug trip throughout. There's some cool practical effects too. Plus its got Norm! from Cheers in!!😎 You'll either love it or hate it. It feels like a new midnight classic.

Halloween Party - 6.5/10
Solid horror comedy, which has a certain charm to it. The leads had good chemistry.

For We Are Many - 6/10
Hit and miss anthology. Could have done with tighter editing.

The Wretched - 8/10
A charming coming of age horror comedy. It has a nice build. The characters are engaging. It has some sharp black humour and some gruelling horror setpieces. Impressive special effects make up too. Its a nice old fashioned horror with a sense of adventure and heart. My small complaint is there's a bit too much going on at times. But I liked it a lot.

The Banana Splits😛 - 7.5/10
Gremlins meets Willy Wonka meets Child's Play. And its a blast! Its a lot of fun, with good characters and some twisted horror moments. I was just won over! The kids are great too.

Rabid (2019) 7.5/10
Soskia Sister's remake of Cronenberg's 1977 film. Cronenberg himself produced. I think they did a good job. They paid tribute to Cronenberg but also did their own thing and updated it. If you like their other films like American Mary and like classic Cronenberg, you should enjoy this.


 
Been lying sick in bed with the worst virus for four days, so been watching a lot of movies.

Crimson Peak - 7/10
A really entertaining Gothic Love Story with a dose of horror, I really enjoyed this film. It's a little clunky in places, but overall very enjoyable.

Everest - 8/10
Gah, why do people climb Everest? This film really showed how dangerous it is to attempt it! Very well-made movie, with solid performances and realistically dramatic and intense.

The Mummy (1999) - 7/10
Have seen this once before and didn't like it, but thoroughly enjoyed it this time around. Rachel Weisz' character is adorable! The special effects don't quite hold up but the story is still entertaining.

(Re-Watch) Con Air - 7/10
It's cheesy and terrible and god knows what type of accent Nicolas Cage is trying to do, but I love this film for all its 90s cheesiness (and all the freakin' explosions!)

(Re-watch) Armageddon - 8/10
I know this film is truly terrible, and everything in it is inaccurate and ridiculous, but jesus christ, it's so much fun and so awesomely entertaining (and has a suprisingly emotional hook to it). Rated so highly because I enjoy watching it so much.

(Re-watch) Julie & Julia - 8/10
Such a fun film, both Amy Adams and Meryl Streep are so good in their respective roles, and it's such a warm and light movie. Oh, and the food porn. I get hungry every time I watch.

(Re-watch) Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom - 6/10
I actually don't mind Fallen Kingdom. The premise is thin and the characters still flat and annoying, but it has some truly effective scenes (the opening in particular) and kind of works as a horror film as opposed to an action/adventure.

I understand those who "climb" Everest are actually more carried up there by Sherpas who take the real risk. Don't see the point of it myself as that not only lack being brag-worthy, it's actually shameful, IMO, at least a waste of time and money.

Batman Begins (2005) 8/10
Great Batman film. I believe it’s the only live-action film that focuses mainly on Bruce Wayne/Batman himself. It was good to see a backstory. Not as good as The Dark Knight but better than Batman 1989. The villain’s plan to destroy Gotham wasn’t that interesting, but other than that, this was a pretty solid movie.
 
Hotel Transylvania - 8/10
This was very fun, more than I expected going into it. I knew very little about it - other than it's been successful and it has 2 sequels - so was surprised by the reunion of all of Adam Sandler's friends, like from Grown Ups 😀 - that was an awesome surprise! Sandler did a great job voice acting, with Samberg at a very close second. Probably gonna watch the sequels tomorrow, I meant to today but a friend called and we ended up talking for hours.
 
Apocalypse Now Redux 6/10

My partner wanted to watch this movie and this was the version we had access to, unfortunately. A meandering slog more akin to reading chapters of a book than watching a movie. Redux is awful. The extra scenes are either completely pointless or just drag the movie to a halt. The French scene is particularly bad. Sure it ties in with the theme of conquering empires now crumbling and the hubris of the colonial mindset, but Christ on a bike, that scene feels like 5 hours. By the time we got to big Brando's muttering I was falling asleep.

Apocalypse Now is a great movie, this version of it is not.

Only seen the recent version. Liked it but agree that French scene is awful. The Redux version is meant to be the worst.
Clash of the Titans (2010) 8/10

I wasn't very impressed when it first came out, but last night I did a re-watch; and it was a bit more entertaining. Sam Worthington (as Perseus) is a terrible actor, but had his moments here. Ralph Fiennes as Hades was INCREDIBLE (And yes, I kept hearing Voldermort every time he spoke lol). Loved the giant crab monsters, and the Djinn! The Kraken was dull...but hey, Alexa Davalos as Andromeda was...dull as well. 😅 I found it amusing that Perseus did NOT want to stay in Argos after killing the Kraken. Andromeda really wanted him to, but he declined. (She looked so disappointed) I was happy to see that Zeus brought Io back! She was adorable.

Jason and the Argonauts (1963) 10/10

So many old films are completely spectacular. This is one. First off, shout out to Ray Harryhausen for the incredible stop-motion effects here! The one thing that I will NEVER forget is Talos, the Titan. Just...don't steal from a Titan. Ever. Trust me on this. It wasn't the wind, Hercules.

Hotel Transylvania 2 - 8/10
With the kid not having his fangs, it introduced a whole new slew of jokes that we didn't get in the first one, which kept the whole thing from being derivative; great choice by the writer(s). Heading on to the 3rd with hope that it will, at the very least, be as entertaining as the first two 🙂
 
Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation - 8/10
Just as much fun as the first one; I think they're smart to keep the characters the same but introduce a new element in each film. The first one was Dracula trying to hide a human from his friends and family, the second was dealing with a grandchild that may not grow fangs, and then a cruise with a new zing. Keeps it fresh and keeps the jokes from getting stale. Considering Sandler is infamous for repeating jokes in sequels, this is definitely a step up.

I Still See You (2018) - 6.5/10
When it first began and I heard the premise (I went into it almost completely blind about what it was about) I remember thinking that it'd be much better as a book; low and behold, it's based on a book! I'm gonna read that someday. The movie was fine, if a bit predictable, which happens sometimes when a premise works better in book format. Bella Thorne was a wonderful lead, though, and definitely elevated it beyond a 6.
 
Friends with money - 1/10

Hit & miss Netflix roulette continues. This one sees 7 unpleasant characters moan for the 60 minutes we got through.

Hmmm... Is it really that bad? The cast alone are fantastic. I've seen a number of films by the same director and really enjoy them. Lovely & Amazing or Please Give might be a better alternative to this film for you.
@Mr Trick you might get more out of it than me. Lots of famous people as you say. I was bored early on and when my girlfriend said it's really dry and she didn't care how it ended we switched it off. Really can't think of anything positive to say about it.

I will probably be watching it soon so will let you know. It could be one of her off films. She also did the screenplay for the recent Can You Ever Forgive me. Very good writer IMO.
Les Diabolique (1955) 10/10
A air-tight, perfectly crafted, paced and acted thriller. It has a real sense of dread and was ahead of its time (inspired Psycho and countless others). The twists land perfectly also.
 
Serial Mom - 8.5/10
Legit, one of my favorite John Waters flicks out there, it's absurdly absurd and utterly hilarious, with one of the best Kathleen Turner performances of her career. Also happens to be Matthew Lillard's very first film role 🙂

28 Days Later - 9.5/10
One of my favourites! Does occasionally look like it's been filmed on a potato, but still very impressive. Definitely one of Alex Garland and Danny Boyle's best works. Cillian Murphy and Naomie Harris have such great chemistry!

Withnail & I - 9/10
I feel like I enjoyed this a lot more than I did the 1st time I watched it? Some of the humour's still lost on me, though. I'm chalking it up to me irrationally and uncritically loving everything with so much as a 0.5 second glimpse of Paul Mcgann.
