Its close between LW 1&2. Its a credit to Shane Black's scripts that those movies are so consistent. Find Fight Club a bit overrated. But am probably going to see it this week for the 20th anniversary.
Drop Dead Gorgeous - 8/10

Forget Mean Girls, this is the true spiritual successor to Heathers! Brilliant black comedy, irreverent humour, a ridiculously out-there take on something so ingrained into American culture and stellar performances (especially from Kirstie Alley, Allison Janey and Kirsten Dunst). The only thing which drags this film down is the Ending Fatigue, it does carry on for a good twenty minutes longer than it should.

Vertical Limit - 6/10

A totally cheesy and over-the-top adventure film, with one of the most ridiculous and melodramatic opening scenes, I love watching this film because it's so much fun (and has loads of great scenery porn).

Hustlers (2019) 7.5/10
Stylish and entertaining satire. The script and direction are sharp, characters engaging and there are some strong performances. The Oscar talk about Lopez is a bit over the top though. I enjoyed it. Always nice to see Julia Stiles in a film.
 
X Men: Dark Phoenix 5/10

I have been avoiding watching this movie, due to universal bad reviews, but it was on last night, I had a couple of hours to waste, so I figured that I would give it a chance. I've not been a fan of the X Men reboot series, probably because I am a Wolverine fan, and he doesn't figure in the new ones, after "Days Of Future Past." This is the last movie before the MCU takeover, and the best that I can say for it is that the Fox X Men go out in a blaze of mediocrity. Hopefully, the fabled House of Mouse can do with this franchise what they did with the Avengers.

Bottom line, it's a movie worth waiting for the TV release.
 
Ad Astra (2019) 5/10
A film with good ideas and some effective scenes. But overall it didn't add up to much and left me cold. Brad Pitt is miscast in the lead and just mumbles a lot😵

The Souvenir (2019) 3/10
Pretentious art house film with really annoying characters who I couldn't stand from the start.
 
Captain America: Civil War 9/10

This is still my favorite MCU movie, even though the final battle in "Avengers: Endgame" was certainly more epic. The heroes are heroic, and the bad guy is totally diabolical. He successfully destroys the Avengers as a team, and they never actually recover, nor will they ever now, given the loss of both Iron Man and Black Widow, and the retirement of Captain America. Oh, certainly, there will be an "Avengers 5," barring the complete dissolution of the franchise (fat chance of THAT happening) but it will be essentially a new group, just using the old name. Just as good? Better, even? Possible, but highly, in my opinion, unlikely.

Forgettable con / heist style film. I saw it last week and there's not much I can recall. Characters were pretty naff and I think they massively down played how awful the crimes were.

Rambo: Last Blood - 2/10

Genuinely awful but I'm not sure if it's bad enough to be good. I did laugh a lot and have been smiling afterwards. Think x rated directors cut of Home Alone. I'm a big fan of the film series so this is ultimately very disappointing. It has no real connection to the other films. Call the guy something else and it would make no difference.

Clearly disagree on Hustlers. Think it was just a different way to tell the story than the typical true life film which would hit you over the head with it. Yeah am expecting Rambo to be terrible.
He's Out There (2018) 7.5/10
Effective and creepy horror. A strong lead performance from Yvonne Strahovski, the young girls were pretty good too.
 
@Mr Trick if you liked the last Rambo I'd give this one a miss and take that as a good way to finish up the series.
 
It Chapter 2 - 6/10

I actually enjoyed this more than Chapter One, as I preferred the older versions of the characters to the kid versions (whom I really didn't like) and I thought that the majority of the adults did a good job emulating the already-established characters. Despite the time (2 hrs 40 mins) it moved pretty well, although the ending dragged in places. But every supposedly scary scene actually made me (and the people I saw it with) laugh so, uh ... yeah. Kind of a fail there. This movie also emphasized what I've thought since the first chapter, which is that this adaptation could have been done in one movie. All they had to do was restructure this movie slightly, change the flashbacks and maybe flesh out some of the story and boom! one-film-adaptation.
 
Rambo Last Blood 91/2/10

I have to confess, I love a good "hero kicks ass" movie, and, in this one, Rambo beats the Terminator and John Wick combined. This time, our boy John is leading a peaceful life on his family horse ranch when a gang of Mexican white slavers kidnap his niece. To say that this is a big mistake is like saying that the Arctic ice cap is sort of cool. To say any more would have to be spoilery, so I'll just say, if this is your cup of tea, make a point in going to see it SOON.

Hell House LLC (2015) 5/10
Low budget found footage horror which at least is committed to its premise and has a couple of fun kills. The acting is really bad (but that might have been on purpose😉).
 
Into the Wild 10/10
I got about 10 minutes into this and got all excited thinking "THIS IS ME! THAT GUY ON THE SCREEN IS ME!!" (or the me I'd dream to be). It is rare these days that I give my full attention to a movie, but this one got it. I thoroughly enjoyed this film and the story behind it.

Occupation 9/10
Aussies are popping out these great sci fi action films lately. This was everything I want to see in an alien invasion movie. I think it goes a long way in showing the acting skill of aussies with the right directors and budget. I was familiar with most of the actors, all were typically type cast but they brought it to another level in this film. A good length which also grabbed my full attention (besides when I was patting bunnies - Xander likes gunfire on the tv, Anya does not). It gave me Tomorrow When the War Began vibes which was a big deal in my childhood/teen fanself. I really liked this movie and I would watch it again. The score was breathtaking, I'd watch it again for that alone.
 
Lifeforce (1985) 4/10
Its a crap film for sure, but my god is it entertaining! 😛 Classic guilty pleasure Sci-Fi-horror with vampires, zombies and a bit of campy space adventure thrown in! Steve Railsback is a legend too. Plus there's a young Patrick Stewart who doesn't look that different from old Patrick Stewart😀

Late Phases (2014) 7/10
One of the better recent werewolf movies. To be honest I struggle to think of many good werewolf films.

Transit - 8/10
Engrossing and stylish thriller about a immigrant who assumes the identity of a dead writer to try and escape Nazi occupied France, only to fall for his wife who is searching for her husband. It has a light touch and great characters. I like how it plays with the possibilities of film and storytelling. Paula Beer who plays Marie is awesome.

The Kitchen - 3/10
A baffling mess of a film. The use of music is heavy handed and button pushing. The characters cardboard cut out and bland. The three leads are the best thing about the film but they are wasted. The ending is so flat. It left pretty much no impression on me.

Bait - 7.5/10
A charming low budget British film, shot on black and white and filmed in 8mm. Its a lovely portrayal of small town life, but also is tense at times and has complex characters.

Jackie Brown (1997) 9/10
This was the latest mystery film at my local picturehouse. It was great to see it at the cinema again after over twenty years. Its still my favourite Tarantino film because there's a charm to the characters and a better plot. The cast are wonderful, its entertaining and witty, with good style and restraint.
