Sharing the Bangel love...

Apart from all the Bangel goodness of the reunion, this pic has been my personal fave for years:

It's so intimate! 🙄 Does anybody knows where it came from, what interview?
Also, vampire-Angel/David is (often [bad, bad Angelus!]) too good looking! WTH?? (am I alone in this? lol)

There is no interview here that I’m aware of. They had tons of behind the scenes photos in this episode for some reason. And this is one of them. I love it too because it shows how comfortable they are with each other.

And Angel in vamp face = yes incredibly hot! 😉

Sarah & David seem very close. It's sweet. It's like Fran Drescher with Charlie (Mr. Sheffield). The characters are very in love with each other, and the actors seem like genuinely good pals that keep in touch now & again.

I just love that type of dynamic. Because sometimes with that kind of fondness, comfort, and chemistry, it romance makes watching the on-scree romance even better.

Sorry if I said it before, but I also love how SMG is a hardcore Bangel fan. Man, I wish for a story of them getting back together! Especially after season 7 where Buffy entertains the thought that she could have a future with Angel. It'd be interesting to see how they react & work with each other now that Buffy has had more experience -in sex, life, pain, and heartache.

Sadly it seems like the stable couples always get labeled boring, and it's the dysfunctional ones people crave. I always liked cute & stable, rather than passionate but dysfunctional.

Like with Friends. I LOVED Monica x Chandler and couldn't care less about Ross x Rachel. They brought out the worst in each other, and almost ALL of their other partners were better matches.

Anyway, betting back to Bangel -A moment I always love

Not good with GIFS yet. But a collage.

Their kiss in WMY. Angel's face is a tad messed up, and he's insecure about Buffy having to see & touch him. Buffy makes a point to take off her gloves, and caress his face -saying she didn't notice. The she plants a kiss on him like she would if he was normal-looking. Proving she loves him, and isn't just, or only, interested in him because he's hot -like many detractors wanna say.

@EarthLogic Rachel was the problematic one in that relationship.

I know... listen, we take what we can get !
Bangel (and Sprusilla) was clearly a better relationship for Buffy AND Spike than Spuffy was, why? Because Spuffy made BOTH Buffy and Spike miserable.

Consider how Buffy and Spike behaved when they were with Angel and Drusilla respectively, think about how they smiled. It's a massive difference to when Spuffy interacted with each other (not to mention Spuffy became Spike's whole story, he ceased to exist as a character outside of Spuffy from Season 5-7).

Bangel and Sprusilla were much healthier for Buffy and Spike than Spuffy ever was or ever will be.

Agreed. I always thought Spuffy was the destruction of both their characters.

I am not a Spike fan. But I will say he was much better with Dru. When they started teasing him as a potential bae for Buffy, he fell off and became a stalking loser -stealing her clothes, sniffing her underwear, dressing other lovers as Buffy, sleeping with sexbots of her, and in general just acting like a whipped Buffy fanboy. All of that just made him look pathetic, unlike the dangerous badass he was.

Then Buffy....her starting a relationship with a still very much evil creature was an extreme low point, and crossing a line that made her look beyond pathetic. Even after breaking things off with him, it's still treated as a solid relationship with Dawn cheer-leading for them, and Buffy getting jealous over him & Anya, then moping about it. The ONE time I agreed with Xander coming down on her. I would say the same thing if she ever started sleeping with Angelus.

Then it just effects me watching the early seasons. Buffy & Spike hated each other, fought, and were willing to kill each other -but I know they end up getting turned into a pathetic sex-crazed couple in a few years. BOTH of them being shadows of their former selves.

Xander was a hypocrite, he slept with Anya for years and she killed more humans than the Fanged Four combined.
I think Bangel always sticks with me the most because for one it's really the first relationship that you see as such, but it had everything that you wanted to become a success. I liked Spike when he was in Angel, him and Angel had a good chemistry on that, and you got to see more what they were like, that friendship in it's self was a good one, they hated each other as much as they kept each other around, but it was like the older brother and the younger brother, constant fights, constant arguing, trying to outdo one another, but in the end they still had each others back during a fight. Obviously as I said, more during Angel.

But back to the Bangel, I think once S3 came around and after Revelations, when their relationship started to pick back up again, it could have continued, and although both Buffy and Angel knew it wasn't going to work in the then and now, it could have worked further down the line, it's pretty much as though their stories were never going to come full circle until they were with each other. I'll always love and hate I Will Remember You, they both knew and understood why Angel did what he did, but the fear, the dread, the sorrow in both of them when the time is up, they were never like that with anyone else.

Idk where this is from I came across it looking for a gif but it's refreshing to see reviewers overwhelmingly enjoying the B/A dynamic. Much of what they argue isn't novel or any different from what many of us say in this section but great to see nevertheless.

The comments though........... lol

The first person, who calls Bangel “a blip on the radar in the Buffyverse,” makes a really good point. Buffy and Angel’s relationship is borderline irrelevant. Besides, we all know that Buffy’s most important boyfriend was Scott Hope, anyway. 🙄
