Shows You Gave Up After Seeing Several Episodes/Seasons

My sister banged on about TVD for ages so to shut her up I watched the first episode. I couldn't even make it to the end. How can they make seasons and seasons of that and cancel Firefly?!

Because TV networks want money and nowadays, the more cliche and cheesy a TV show is, they more likely that it will succeed...
1. Defiance (stopped after 4 episodes)
2. Law & Order: SVU (when Stabler left, so did I)
3. Charmed (Billie & Christy ruined it)
4. X-Files (When Scully got a new partner)
5. Doctor Who (The stories were ridiculous after S7 and I couldn't BEAR Clara!! And I really MISS Matt Smith!)
6. Top Gear (Do I even need to explain?)
7. The Last Man On Earth (Too predictable after S1)
8. Once Upon A Time (Stopped mid-way through S2)
9. True Blood (Became far too silly after S2)

I really liked the first season of Defiance. S2 was ok, I didn't really care for the first ep of s3, but I do plan on finishing it, at some point. I gave up on Dominion, even though ASH was great as the villain, wars between Angels just don't interest me.
 
Oh, Defiance and Dominion - yep, they lost me, too, lol.
 
Dominion. Meh. The only plus was Gabriel became extremely hot in S2...but Michael was extraordinarily DULL. And I'd already guessed that Lucifer would return. He ALWAYS returns in stories about angels. This wasn't a very original story.
 
There's way too many for me to even remember. I just watch too much. If I'm recommended a show, or it gets great reviews I at least try to watch a full season before stopping. Sometimes it takes time to really get into a show. Plus I know how I would feel if someone dismissed a show I like after one episode. One exception is The walking dead. I was prepared to watch season 1 but after really forcing myself to watch 3 episodes I asked some fans of the show if they thought watching the full season would change my view. They said no so I simply stopped.

Breaking bad (1 season)
Six feet under (1 season)
Mad Man (At least 2 season)
House of Cards (2 seasons)
True detective (Watched the whole first season "just because". Found it boring.)
True blood (2-3 seasons or something). Had online friends that loved it so I wanted to as well but no.

Haven't had a moment when I've regretted to stop watching the above mentioned.

Orange is the new black (2 seasons) Might go back to this one at some point but can't say that I miss it.
Homeland (3 seasons) Loved the first season when it just came to be about founding out how the storyline would end.
Glee (3 seasons or so). Call it guilty pleasure if you like, watching the show made me happy. A few weeks ago I watched 3 or 4 episodes from the final season and the one with flashbacks reminded me why I loved the show.

I'm not saying these are bad tv-shows. Many of them are well made and I can see why people like them. They just haven't been for me.
 
Oh, and I shouldn't forget the original CSI. Absolutely loved it the first seasons. Don't remember when I stopped watching but I'm guessing around season 5 or 6.,
 
Vampire Diaries - it's just deviated so much from the book (I felt that the Damon/Elena story was carried on because the actors were going out in real life and now that's ended the show has lost its interest)

The Originals - couldn't get into season 2.

Charmed - didn't like the storylines anymore. Phoebes constant search for love was annoying.

OTH - couldn't get into season 5.

Amen to the Charmed comment. Probably one of the worst character degenerations I've ever seen.
The Shannara Chronicles- I didn't make it through the first episode, it just lost me.
And I'll admit that I partly didn't like it for the most shallow of reasons- I'm not a big fan of fantasy settings where almost all the cast have US accents. Too jarring for me and its hard to take it seriously, it takes me out of the 'fantasy' part of it. Elves should always sound European-ish to me.
 
Oh yes, if I didn't say it before, The Shannara Chronicles was terrible. And I read and enjoyed the books.

And ShadowHunters - and I loved the books and movie. The casting was so incredibly awful.
 
My stubborn heart still only counts Dexter as having one season. I tried getting into season two...it...no...
The rest are mostly because I have gotten distracted, I'm not usually one to quit a show once I've started it.
Oh, except, American Horror Story, I bought the first season...and then I couldn't even get through the pilot. Don't know why it's so highly rated, tbh.

S2/3 of Dexter sucked, but S4 made up for it
I really liked the first 2 seasons of (the new) Battlestar Galactica, but the ending of season 2 felt forced (and to me it would've been better as a season opener than ending, and felt like trying to just make sure people came back which irritates me), and I got to looking up what happens next as I tried to decide whether to get more and it looked to me like they were just jumping one shark after another just to top themselves that would just throw out the character development in the first 2 seasons so I decided to quit while I was ahead and still loved the series.

Oddly enough, I liked the first seasons of multiple zombie shows (Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead, even High School of the Dead) but quickly lost interest after that.

Well in the case of HSOTD, they just had a "teaser" ep following the end of season 1 which tossed out the character development and established canon to make a silly ecchi (I generally don't mind the ecchi as long as it supplements a story rather than making the story not matter, but ecchi for its own sake just bores me at best, though there are times like in s1 HSOTD that I find it funny, as in laughing AT it, but tends to be less silly than many other never-going-to-happen-in-life-but-it's-so-cool elements, like say where one character pulls a daredevil stunt on a motorcycle while tossing a gun to another character who instantly catches it and uses it like an Olympic shooter, or where they drove a long time in a military ATV with only one side of the vehicle on its wheels, almost sideways, and can't forget the staple favorite in all shows and movies where characters never lose their hat or similar apparel no matter what--unless fan service is called for, of course), and if that's what later seasons would've been like then please let it RIP (I'll certainly be skipping it).

I was told I'd love the Sopranos but I didn't. I was impressed with many of the elements of it, but it made me want to see The Punisher again (a movie I barely got through when I saw it at the cinema in 2004) and just ticked me off too much. Yet I do understand why people like it...but I don't think people who watch it have much, if any, room to be bitching about people playing games like Grand Theft Auto (as one Sopranos fan I knew did). 😛

I loved Six Feet Under during the first season and also during half of the second, but season 3 was terrible and I finally gave up during season 4.
I watched a season or 2 of House of Cards and then gave up because it's such a boring cliché.
Loved season 1 of True Detective but couldn't be bothered with season 2.
Stopped watching True Blood because season 5 onward was an absolute disaster.
Watched season 1 of Once Upon a Time and gave up in the first episodes of season 2.
I keep trying to watch Agents of Shield and keep giving up somewhere in the first episode.
Tried to watch Atypical and Shadowhunters and noooope.

Plus so many other shows I've forgotten about...
 
I tried so hard to get into Agents of Shield. I liked Season 1 then lost interest somewhere along the middle of Season 2? I can't recall when actually it was Graham was revealed to be working for Hydra.
 
Teen Wolf - watched the first season and the first few eps of the second season,
but there were no female characters I actually liked and the show didn't seem to be saying anything to me. This show is so homoerotic, I found myself wishing they'd just get it on, not just stare longingly at each other and fight with their shirts off 🙄

American Horror Story - Liked Murder House and Asylum, couldn't get through Coven so stopped watching until Roanake, which was okay but not great and I doubt I'll even attempt Cult.
 
1. Bones - Seasons 1-3 were good (except the last bit where they jumped the shark with Zack's ridiculous storyline), but then they decided to slowly turn Brennan into a robot. I hung on till about S5 then gave up.
2. Charmed (hated Phoebe's endless love stories, Billie and Christy were annoying, can't remember much of the plot for later seasons but I remember just being alternately bored/irritated)
3. Agents of Shield - not enough Joss involvement, poor writing. Just nope.

I've been watching The Sopranos and it's incredible, but I've had to take a break from it because the aggressive masculinity was becoming too much. Need some time to breathe before I resume watching.
