1. What is this freyverse thing I keep reading about?

2. Which episode was Villians and how did Buffy die, I don't seem to recall that one.

Does anyone else think that Joss just might have rushed season 7 and that's why these mistakes regarding the whole whose the chosen one thing occured? Nic Brendon was on TRL today and he said all the cast were signed up for another year but Sarah wasn't interested so maybe Joss just wrote this season quickly cos he didn't have time to prepare for it. It's just a thought, I always thought the ending of Angel was kind of rushed.

Also if Faith was the proper slayer shouldn't the show have changed it's name to, "Buffy A Vampire Slayer"? Cos she wasn't THE only slayer was she? :heee:

1. Fray is another slayer, like hundreds of years in the future or something. It's a comic created by Joss, I haven't read it though.. But it seems great.

2. Villians. In the end of s6. Buffy was shot (in Seeing Red) by Warren.. and she was "dead" (I don't know if she was really but.. for a second maybe) and Willow saved her..

There aren't really any mistakes.. If you just read what nerd4hire posted, it explains everything but when it changed... (Sorry, I have to go to sleep now can't explain this again.)

(Hehe, you're right about the Faith thing.. though "the" isn't the same as "the only"..)

But didn't Jos Wheden write the lines for that character?

Anyway, as I'm new here and I seem to have created quite a discussion with a lot of interesting points. I have 2 questions:

1. What is this freyverse thing I keep reading about?

2. Which episode was Villians and how did Buffy die, I don't seem to recall that one.

Does anyone else think that Joss just might have rushed season 7 and that's why these mistakes regarding the whole whose the chosen one thing occured? Th reason why the shows wasn't changed to, "Buffy A Vampire Slayer", was because...The show was originally going to be called "Slayers", but it was changed to, "Buffy The Vampire Slayer", because it was based on one slayer. And in season 1, Buffy was the main character/chosen one/current slayer.Faith and the other slayers, aren't the main slayers. The show is about mainly about one slayer.Buffy.

Fray is a comic written by Joss Whedon. It is based in the future of the buffyverse.Joss told the fans that he'll try to explain the issue (issue:what happened to the SITs), in another issue of Fray.

eponinethen-Buffy DIDN'T DIE in that episode. She was still alive, but DYING.In the scene where Evil Willow goes to Buffy's hospital room, you see that thing where it shows your heart beat, and Buffy's is still beating. It didn't stop.If it had stopped, then she would've been dead.Willow saved her life, cause Buffy was dying.Willow saved Buffy from dying again, by removing the bulltet, and healing her wounds.

I found more about the slayer line issue.

To clear up this whole slayer thing, think of it as a relay race. Buffy was originally running alone, carrying the slayer baton by herself. When she is (temporarily) killed by The Master at the end of season one, she passes the slayer baton to Kendra. Kendra is now technically The Slayer, even though Buffy lives and runs alongside her. When Kendra then dies at the end of season two at the hands of Drusilla, she passes the baton on to Faith. Therefore, when Buffy dies at the end of season five to save Dawn, no new slayer is called since Faith has the baton, and the line runs through her. Kill Buffy as many times as you like, you won't get another slayer until Faith dies and passes the baton on. Buffy's just there for the run.

No Buffy was techinically dead. Didn't the doctors give up hope for her? I think they would know more than you.

Plus, as nerd4hire has stated (and I have also supplied many times) the quotes saying that the line does run through Buffy. I mean c'mon now, I think the First knows who the true Slayer is and who the line runs through.

Lettme go find the post I made with all the quotes that proves were right.

Fray Issue: Here is some quotes from the comic.I have added my guesses in brackets.

QUOTES FROM FRAY:

"Why don't you tell me what happened to the last one?"

"Because I don't know...It was hundreds of years ago, in the twenty-first century. What we know is this - there was a battle. A slayer, possibly with some mystical allies, faced an apocalyptic army of demons. (I'm guessing that the last slayer was Faith, because she was the last activated slayer.Buffy wasn't.I think that mystical allies were Willow-wicca, Spike-Vamp with Soul/Amulet, etc,...The Hellmouth battle wasn't exactly in the 20th century. But it was in the 20th something century. The gang did face an apocalyptic army of demons-The ubervamps.)

"And when it was done...they were gone. All demons, all magicks, banished from this earthly dimension."(When it was done, all the ubervamps died. But I'm not sure about the magics part.

"And the Slayer? Did she..?"

"I do not know if she lived. But, the demons being gone, she was the last to be called. The line continued...There were girls with the power but they were never called, never trained." (Faith was the last real slayer to be called. The SITs weren't from the same line as Buffy, Faith, and Kendra. The SITs, were scythe activated slayers. And I'm thinking this quote means the last activated slayer, which was Faith. When he said there were girls with power, I'm guessing those scythe activated slayers, who weren't found.)

I'm still confused with the connection of Fray and the Scythe Activated slayers. But Joss promised us he'll explain it.I can't wait!🙂

Unless you show a credible source, then I don't believe these supposed Joss "quotes". Plus I'm quoting from the TRANSCRIPTS.

Caleb and The First must've thought it was Buffy, the real slayer, but in reality she WASN'T.According to Joss, and the crew, Faith was the real active slayer.Would you believe charactyers, or Joss and his crew?

You know Xx, I don't want to be rude, but if you're going to debate this this thread, I'd suggest reading it.

The mistakes.com quote you posted had already been posted. The quote from the first you requested is on the first page.

It's been made clear on this thread that whatever happened, or was said before Season 6 doesn't matter. Anya says the disruption happened as a result of the resurrection spell at the beginning of Season 6.

Yes we'd rather believe Joss. It has been stated over and over again, Joss wrote the script where the First says the slayer line passes through Buffy. It was the last episode of the season. He had no reason to try to fool anybody. He was saying the line passes through Buffy at that point.

And even though the quote has already been posted, I'll post it again for you:

"CALEB/FIRST
'Cause he can't help you. Nor Faith,
nor your friends... certainly not
your little wannaslay brigade. None
of those girlies will ever know real
power unless you're dead. You know
the drill:

And here he morphs into Buffy herself, coming close to say:

BUFFY/FIRST
Into every generation, a Slayer is
born. One girl in all the world.
She alone will have the strength and
skill to fight the... well there's
that word again. What you are. How
you'll die. Alone.

I still don't buy the theory that The First thought Buffy was the real slayer but she wasn't. I don't think The First Evil is something that even really thinks.. I pretty sure it knew who the slayer was, the real Chosen One.

Anyway, I don't get what your even discussing right now. XxSlayerxX it doesn't seem like you're dicussiong the same thing as the rest of of.. are you..? Cause none of the things your saying proves anything and everything has been said before.. (Unless you find a quote where Joss says the line went through Faith IN SEASON 7.. then I'll thank you a lot, heh..)

I just don't really see where this is going right now.. I thought we had figured it out (except for the change I mean).. Please tell me if I've understood this wrong..

Xx, it's not that easy. There's tons of evidence in this thread alone [not to mention the eight tons of others I've seen on various boards] to suggest there's something more. It doesn't work that way. And for the love of all that is holy, don't take it so seriously. We're trying to have a good-natured debate here.

Sorry if that came out a little rude, but I had to get that off my chest.

Anyway, my two cents, yet again: instead of Buffy being re-inserted, she could've just been re-Chosen. So it's like she was Chosen the first time [sorry if I'm repeating, I'm just trying to get my brain in order]. eponinethen, I know you're pushing the resurrection spell theory, but we can't just disregard the flatline. It happened. And being that no other Scoobies knew about it except for Willow and Xander, I'm thinking that's why they blamed themselves. Because it makes the most sense. I agree with that.

So, as of S7, the line doesn't run through Faith anymore, it runs through Buffy, because she was re-Chosen at the end of 'Villians'. I still hold the thought that she was, yet again, resurrected by magickal means. Am I alone on that one? And The First and Caleb know that now. That's why the mojo is jacked up.

Alright, it's late, and I can't take the deep thoughts right now. Later.

It wasn't explained, but the rules according to Joss are that even though Buffy died twice her replacement had already been called and was still alive, so there wouldn't be a second replacement for Buffy. Does that make sense? If Kendra was Buffy's replacement, then Faith replaced Kendra. There was still a living Slayer when Buffy died the second time, so another Slayer didn't get called.

So wouldn't that technically mean that NEITHER slayer could call a new slayer upon their death...or that the last one standing was the real chosen...Your theory just basically proved itself wrong with that last statement.

The First is a supreme all knowing being, evil, but still supreme over humans..It knew so much about how to make the characters do it's will (ie. Andrew, Spike) How could it not know how the slayer line works. And when a character on the show is talking it's basically Joss Whedon talking because as executive producer, even though he may not write an episode he does have a hand in how the series turns out.

It seems like most people here seem to forget about the "distruption" that the Eye talked to Anya and Giles about. If Faith was the active slayer, the one that passes on the slayer-line, I don't really see any disruption. But if Buffy was called back, through magick, then there is a basis for something to mess up the slayer-line.

Faith was carrying the torch, nothing special about that. But bringing a slayer back to life in the way Willow and Company did, that's a big deal. In a way, Buffy was reborn - as someone stated earlier her body had been decomposing for about 140 days, which means it had to be rebuilt. The metaphysical power of the slayer-line, which started when the Shadowmen created the First Slayer, probably didn't know how to cope with al that power jumping back and forth between various girls. Thus, one giant disruption.

Of course, the groundwork for this could have started as early as Prophecy Girl. In my mind, it did. Kendra was a mistake and so was Faith. Bringing Buffy back was even bigger - the line was finally starting to sort itself out, with one single slayer on the field.

Just my two cents. The theory that Faith being the active slayer makes perfect and logical sense - as has also been pointed out - but the huge disruption, that made the First attack, had to happen at some point. Couldn't it just be that all that Buffy-dying-and-waking-up (including the events in Villians, if we are sure that Buffy actually died from the gunwound - something I never thought she did) finally broke the camel's back?

I'm beginnning to think this little mix up in the Slayer lineage was done just to royally piss fans off after hours, maybe days of heated debates arguing over such.

Though I'm suprised that Jill & Lady haven't put their two cents in, considering Faith is somewhat a factor in this. Although this topic is becoming trite.

Even Marti Noxon told the fans that Faith is THE REAL SLAYER.It was also mentioned in Joss articles.I still believe that Faith was the real slayer.Only Faith can activate another slayer, through her death.Buffy can't activate another slayer, because she isn't the active slayer.Buffy is the last guardian of the hellmouth, not the real slayer. She may be the final guardian, but not the active slayer.I'm just trying to point out that Faith is the active slayer.Buffy is the true & last guardian of the hellmouth, according to the shadow men.

Do you have a link to this "thing" spoken by Marti?

And was it post-S6 or pre-S6.

Because Bargaining changed EVERYTHING! Can't you see that theres a huge difference between being dead for a couple minutes and being dead for a couple of months?

Buffy's body had to go through a lot to revert to its former self, and I doubt that her body would retain her powers. Thus being a Slayer and her body and soul being used to the powers of the Chosen, she was re-inserted into the Slayer line. Or simply given back her powers that she rightfully deserved.

Ok, now I just have to ask this:

I remember right after The Gift, Joss stated that they were going to bring Buffy back like they had never done before. Yet I was royally pissed (I like saying that today!) when they brought her back using a ressurection spell, which had been done by Dawnie in S5.

So what if the ressurection spell didn't bring Buffy back? Maybe some higher being did. Because the spell wasn't complete.

Though Willow did talk to Osirus or whatever and he stated that she did bring back Buffy by magical means, when trying to bring back Tara but it wasn't a supernatural death like Buffys.

Hm, so either something was different or Joss lied. But I can tell you that he did actually say that as it was in (I believe) TV GUIDE. So the source is out there.

It just sounds too easy. Where is the disruption?

The disruption has already been discussed.Nerd4Hire, could you please explain, again, the disruption? It has been quoted in "Show Time", the reason why the disruption had accured. When Buffy came back again, she ruined the slayerline, again. She was supposed to stay dead.It ruined the balance of the world. There wasn;'t supposed to be two slayers, living at the same time. The First got mad, and wanted to end the slayerline, so he sent his agents to kill potential slayers.

Of course it has been discussed, but people didn't seem to care much about it - including you. IF Faith is the active slayer, what about the disruption? Something big has happened, obviously, that affects the slayer-line - if it isn't Buffy's resurrection that makes her re-chosen, then what is it?
