Trump tells progressive freshman congresswomen to 'go back' to their 'broken and crime infested' countries

I was catching up with the discussion in LGBTQ acceptance dropping among Millennials and I came across this article:

President Donald Trump tweeted Sunday morning asking the "'Progressive' Democrat Congresswomen" to "go back" to their "corrupt" and "broken and crime infested" countries. He claimed the congresswomen, most likely referring to the "Squad" of freshman progressives, were "loudly [...] and viciously telling the people of the United States [...] how our government is to be run."

Instead, Trump suggested that the congresswomen, who he tweeted "originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they even have a functioning government at all)," should "go back and help fix" the "places from which they came."

"These places need your help badly, you can't leave fast enough," Trump tweeted, along with saying "I'm sure Nancy Pelosi would be very happy to quickly work out free travel arrangements!"

Omar was born in Somalia and came to the US at the age of 12, after a spell in a refugee camp. Elected to Congress in November as one of the first two Muslim women to achieve that honour, she has emerged as a hate figure among Republicans, Fox News hosts and Trump’s hard-right base of support.

Tlaib, the other Muslim woman in Congress, was born in Detroit. Pressley was born in Cincinnati and raised in Chicago. Ocasio-Cortez was born in New York City. Trump tells Ocasio-Cortez and other female progressives to 'go back' to 'original' countries

He was referring to the countries that their families originally came from. Specifically, that idiot Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, whose roots are in Puerto Rico.

But Puerto Rico is a USA territory, isn't it? And most Americans came from different countries, prior to the 1980s when the Mexican immigration scaled up, the late 1800s to the 1920s is the period of a huge influx of immigrants. Technically, only Native Americans belong to the USA.

(NOTE: The USA government also encouraged Mexican immigration during and after WWII as they needed labor, they had a very interesting policy where they actually recruited Mexican farmers directly in Mexico to come to the USA).

This from a man whose mother comes from Scotland and claims his father came from Germany (it was his Grandfather who was German). I fear his geography's as bad as his history (there were no "airports taken" during the War of Independence).

I dislike Trump very much, but he could have done so much better by staying out of the discussion and letting Pelosi continue her beef with the congresswomen. With his twitter rant, he’s pretty much forcing them to find a common ground against him. Not a smart move IMO.
 
There was an article in the Wall Street Journal that suggested Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was planted in the Democratic party by Donald Trump to make the party look bad and secure his re-election. So far, it's working. I doubt he's smart enough to plan such a thing but it was an interesting slam on the far left candidates.

As far as Trump's policies are concerned, if America continues with them, they should tear down the Statue of Liberty, the one with the inscription that says:

"Give me your tired, your poor,

Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,

The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.

Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,

I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
 
I would see his point if they moved specifically to be in congress from their own country to the USA. But that is not what happened.

I don’t follow politics closely enough, but it seems to me that the Democrats cannot get their act together and that they learnt nothing from their mistakes in the last election/administration. A second term for Trump is very likely to happen if nothing changes in the following months. I simply don’t see a solid proposal from the left, and yes, there seems to be an increasing polarization among the Democrats guided by these younger politicians, making even more difficult to have a unifying platform. And as much as I dislike admitting, Trump has been true to his promises and has ripped the benefits of a strong economy – which in all fairness started with Obama, who had to deal with a shitty period during the Great Recession. I do hope for a change among Democrats, I dislike very much the hateful rhetoric that we've endured in the last 3 years.
 
I don't understand the point in people defending Trump. He's pretty overtly racist in public. God knows what else he says and does off camera. I understand people can prefer him to the alternative or think his tax breaks are good news or whatever else. Just why bother pretending when he can't even be bothered to do it himself?

This is awful. Especially because we all know that if any of these congresswomen were white, he probably wouldn't be telling them to go back to where they came from. Even though most of them were born in the U.S, anyways.

You're probably right, although I have the feeling that even if they weren't POCs, he'd still find a way to demean them that's his gift... just as he did with Dr. Christine Ford, he found a way to mock a white woman who was sexually assaulted.
