Well I don't live in LA or LA county, I'm in between there and San Diego, but yes lots of good diverse food here in So Cal! lol. But yes, free health care would be great! lol
I just went to an all you can eat sushi place last night with some friends. And it was good quality sushi!
 
@Fuffy Baith Oh okay, I forgot, sorry! They say with regard to California that So Cal/LA metro is the king of affordable food options, whereas No Cal/Bay Area is the king of high-end dining. I think that sounds right to me, based on my experience of California. As for Denver, it has improved a great, great deal over recent years in terms of quality food options. I think this is a reflection of the impact of people moving to Denver from other areas of the country where food options are better (and demanding it when they get here).

By the way, we are getting In-N-Out burgers here in the Denver metro area, beginning some time next year. Everyone is so super excited, it's dumb.

@telperion66 I like the LA area a lot too. I'm not sure I would move to it though, unless I could afford the kind of lifestyle that would make it worthwhile.

I lived in the Bay area for 5 years, everything there is expensive. And honestly the food isn't better than So Cal, they don't have as good Mexican food up there. Never ate at any high-end fancy restaurants. Although Fisherman's Warf at the pier in San Fran does have really good seafood.

Oh nice! I do enjoy In N Out I live right next to one. It's a bit over hyped, but still good food. I would never live in LA though, way too expensive and I hate the traffic! I hate any time I have to go into LA. The traffic drives me insane. I prefer to live where I'm at, although we may have to move for job reasons next year.

I was in LA once for a few days on vacation, never again (although I did get to visit Stars Hollow and saw the last standing thing from Casablanca so not totally wasted) ...the bay area is a much nicer vacation spot.

Roo burgers. Two. Too many. Stuffed full now, but they were yum on damper rolls with apricot chutney, cheese and salad. 8/10 two points off for two. I probably only needed half of one lol.
 
Gypsy steak and fries with whiskey sauce - the fries were not totally done, but other than that it was delicious. Having it again tomorrow, so I'll leave the fries in the oven a bit longer. 7/10
 
Went out with a gang from work to Lucia Wine Bar & Grill the other night. Had goats cheese & fig ravioli and it was beautiful, but the portion was quite small. For pudding I had chocolate brownie and vanilla ice-ream. Also had a couple of cocktails. All very very nice, 8/10
 
I took my friends out for my 18th birthday at this artsy restaurant with replicas of Van Gogh's paintings hanging around. I ate a veggie burger that was quite tasty and the brownies were also alright, but there was a lot on the menu that they didn't have at that moment and it was a bit pricey for the size of the portions. Still nice though and I enjoyed the atmosphere. 8/10
 
Took some Piada home to go. 1st time eating food from there. I ordered the carbonara pasta with grilled chicken & pepperoni stick. Food was almost cold by the time I got home (was short drive)! Portions kinda small for the amount paid (about $12). Food was better than my one friend had reported, but closer to average overall.
 
Delicious pasta with cream and cheese sauce and strips of bacon, from the pizza place. That was only half of it, though, so something to look forward to tomorrow 😉
 
Well... I tried to make chocolate mousse, but I misread the amount of ingredients and so I used way more milk and cream than called for. Had to pour everything down the drain, dammit! Buying more tomorrow to try again. I want mousse!!! 😡

Was it still edible ? I would have just eaten the mousse as it is, I assume it still tasted good.

It wasn't mousse, it was water. Cocoa flavored, I suppose, but 2 liters of milk, ½ liter of cream and some mousse mix? Not delicious, I'm guessing.
 
A delicious fry up made by yours truly. Although the husband forgot the bacon when he picked up the food, what the hell? Lucky he didn't get his papers.
Egg, square sausage, beans, black pudding, link sausage, and tottie scone, and a roll for dipping. Yum! Needed a large high calorie meal after not eating much the last week.
 
Nabbed some Chipotle for lunch. Had 2 crunchy (chicken, sour cream, cheese & sauce) & 1 soft tacos (chicken, black beans, rice, cheese, sour cream & sauce). Was yummy.
 
Pea and ricotta stuffed courgettes. Another Jamie Oliver recipe, nice but a bit lacking in flavour.
 
I made a lunch of potato scone, spinach, and fried egg (layered together) with carrot and swede mash on the side. It was surprisingly delicious.
