Why is Season 5 Spike so weak? -He could not fight Reptilian Demon who Xander had a better time fighting -He was restrained and kidnapped by human tier demons who worked fro Glory. -He struggled with two of these demons. Honestly, Season 5 Spike is weaker than Xander or Giles.

Spike is seen smoking frequently, and Harmony also smokes once or twice. If they are able to blow air out of their mouths, why couldn't Angel give Buffy CRP? Was this something the creators had an explanation for or am I just overthinking it?
